On Tuesday night the lads travelled to Dunmurry to play third placed Iveagh. Things looked to be going the way of high flying Iveagh as they rushed into a 2 nil lead in the opening 15 minutes. Firstly a misjudged cross by Kircubbin's Eugene McGrattan allowed the Iveagh player to head the ball into the open net, then slack marking gifted Iveagh a second goal. But Kircubbin slowly crept back into the game and forced the home keeper to make three point blank saves to maintain his side's advantage at the break. Sean Masterson, Ross McCann and Matthew Torney all came close for the visitors.
Early in the second half things weren't so comfortable for the home team as Kircubbin forced their way into the game. Kircubbin got their just rewards for all their pressure when Matthew Torney added another goal to his personal tally, reducing the deficit to one goal. Iveagh showed their strength at home and added a third goal to dampen Kircubbin's spirits. With ten minutes left in the game Kircubbin scored again to make the score 3-2, Ross McCann on hand to convert a golden opportunity inside the box. Now Kircubbin were in the ascendancy and pushed everyone forward looking for a well deserved equaliser. Time was running out, but in the last minute of normal time, substitute Brendan Masterson broke free on the right wing and his dipping shot was pushed round the post by the excellent diving keeper. From the resultant corner, an attempted clearance deflected off Paddy OPrey into the Iveagh net to leave the final scores 3-3.
This Saturday the team travel to Temple Rangers. Team to leave at noon.
