Kircubbin hosted Grange in a league meeting last Saturday, and with the visitors lying rock bottom of the table with no points from their first three games, the form guide would put Kircubbin as clear favourites.

The home team got into their stride right from the kick off with David Arthurs and Kevin Coyle both missing early chances to give Kircubbin the lead. But the opening goal didn't take long as Matthew Clarke got on to the end of a right wing cross to convert from close range. Kircubbin continued to dominate the game and were in full control all over the field, but didn't manage to get an elusive second goal. Several more chances came and went without being converted before the half time whistle. 1-0 at the break.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Kircubbin creating more chances. Turlough Bell scored a close range header low at the back post from a pinpoint cross by Shaun Clancy. After this the flood gates opened as Kircubbin attacked at will, with Turlough, David, Kevin and Matthew creating all sorts of problems for the Grange defence. Kircubbin's third goal was a superb team effort, with excellent interplay right throughout the team culminating in Mick O'Prey calmly passing the ball past the Grange keeper. Even team captain, Cahal McGrattan was trying to get on the score sheet as he burst through the Grange defence, but the central defender was unable to control the ball near the keeper and Grange were able to clear the danger. Kevin then scored a fine individual goal taking on the Grange defence before unleashing an unstoppable shot low into the visitors net. In the dying minutes Shaun capped of a fine individual performance with a wonder strike on the volley from 25 yards. Final score a well deserved 5-0 victory, and a well earned three points which pushes Kircubbin back up to the top half of the table.

This week the team travel to Ford FC. Team to leave at noon.
