Kircubbin have kept their promotion chances alive in recent weeks with a couple of hard fought victories. First away to Whitehead last Tuesday night, Kircubbin had to come from a goal down to eventually snatch victory right at the end of the game with yet another goal from the in-form Adam Arthurs. On Saturday Kircubbin travelled to Ballynahinch to play Temple Rangers. Yet again Kircubbin were not at their best. Indeed the manager made it clear to his players at half time that things could only get better as a poor 45 minutes of play saw them loosing 1-0 at the break, and in truth Temple were good value for their lead.

Kircubbin did start to play better in the second half, but a combination of poor finishing and poor decision making in the final third of the pitch restricted Kircubbin's chances. Matthew Clarke got the teams back on level terms with a headed goal direct from a corner. This gave Kircubbin a huge lift and they now bombarded the Temple penalty area. The only threat from the home team was a quick counter attack, but luckily for Kircubbin they had plenty of pace in defence to deal comfortably with these problems. Adam and David Arthurs, Turlough Bell and Matthew all missed chances to give Kircubbin the lead and time was now running out for Kircubbin. But with only minutes to go Kircubbin got a deserved winner when the keeper could only parry Turlough's shot into the path of Matthew Clarke who couldn't miss from a few yards out. In injury time Kircubbin should have secured all three points when Turlough rounded the Temple keeper only to miraculously miss an open net from a narrow angle.

This week the busy end of season schedule continues with a home match against Temple, followed by a potential promotion decider away to Kelvin (Thurdsay night) who are currently sitting in third place behind Kircubbin. The final match of the season is away to league leaders Immaculata next Monday evening.
